Air Conditioner and Furnace

An air conditioner and furnace system is one of the many options for a matched system.

1. Air Conditioner

Basically an air conditioner works like this: Connected to the inside cooling coil, the compressor pumps refrigerant back and forth, extracting heat and moisture from the indoors. It transfers the heat to the outdoors. Warm indoor air is blown over the indoor cooling coil, where it is cooled and then distributed throughout your home. As of January 2006, the government rating changed to a minimum of 13 SEER. At least exceeding that minimum, Trane's full line of air conditioners range in efficiency from 13 to 19.50 SEER. With up to 19.50 SEER, Trane's XL19i air conditioner actually has two compressors for two-stage cooling, giving it the ability to handle your comfort regardless of whether it's a moderately warm day, or the hottest day of the summer.

2. Indoor Cooling Coil

To deliver the highest system efficiency, performance and climate control, an indoor cooling coil must be matched in size and rated with your air conditioner. Use a Trane coil with your Trane system for optimum reliability.

3. Furnace

Trane furnaces are uniquely designed to provide maximum heat with minimum fuel usage. And they think for themselves. Key furnace control functions are integrated into one microelectronic system that monitors the thermostat and gas valve, ensuring precise temperature control. The current minimum AFUE requirement for furnaces is 78%. Trane offers a full line of single-stage, two-stage, and two-stage variable-speed furnaces that range from 78 % to 96.7 % AFUE.

4. Air Cleaner

An air cleaner is an integral part of a home comfort system, filtering dust and pollutants out of the air you breathe, and keeping your rugs and home furnishings cleaner as well. Reduced pollen, dust, pet dander, smoke, etc., could help reduce allergy and asthma discomfort. A Trane CleanEffects™ air filtration system is up to 99.98% effective, and is also proven to remove more than 99% of the common flu virus from your home’s filtered air.

5. Thermostat

The control center for your home comfort system. Trane's digital, programmable thermostats give you precise temperature control and allow you to program your heating and cooling requirements depending upon your daily activities and schedule.

Heat Pump and Air Handler

Common in the warm, and humid areas, a heat pump and air handler system is another option for a matched system.

Heat Pump

Unlike a furnace, a heat pump doesn't burn fuel to make heat. It simply uses electricity to move heat from one place to another. A heat pump is an energy-efficient way to cool your home in the summer and heat it in the winter. Today's heat pumps are required to have an HSPF of 8.0 and a SEER of at least 13.00. Trane offers a full line of heat pumps that range from 8 to 10.55 HSPF, and 13.00 to 17.90 SEER. Trane's 17.90 SEER heat pump offers you even greater comfort with two-stage air conditioning and three-stage heating. This means it operates at low speed most of the time. However, on days when more heating or air conditioning is required, it switches to the next stage for maximum comfort.

Air Handler

Matched in size (capacity) and efficiency rating with the heat pump, air handlers circulate conditioned air throughout your home. An air handler contains an inside coil and a blower fan, with the additional possibility of an auxiliary electric strip heater. Trane air handlers are available with single, multi or variable-speed motors. Variable-speed models are known for soft starts, high humidity control features and 12 selectable levels of airflow capacity, as well as the enhanced comfort mode, the Comfort-R™ airflow system.

Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Specialists Did you know that A/C systems today are saving us more money than ever? The efficiency standard today is minimum 13 Seer (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) Like miles per gallon. The higher the seer the more money saved. Most of the homes built even just a few years ago had a rating of only 10 seer and continues to drop with as the system ages.
